Not quite a DIY...

This little project is too simple to write a DIY about but too cute not to share!

I'm not 100% sure but I think nearly all Goodwill stores (at least a lot of them in Ohio) get or buy goods that didn't sell from Target and right now they currently have these super cute flats. While they were super cute as is I felt like they were just begging to be painted!
I just used some of my favorite nail polish colors. It took three or four coats to get the color super dark but it was a super quick little project! They're holding up great with no chips, cracking or color loss. I'm pretty excited to rock these all summer long.

I'll be back a little later to show the outfit I wore with my newly restyled shoes.
xoxo

  1. Cute idea! I love brogue type shoes. Do you reckon the nail varnish will hold up all summer?

    1. I'm not sure. Judging by how it's doing now, yes. But even if it doesn't a little bit of nail polish mover to take it off and I can give them another whole new look!

    1. Oh really? I guess it must be a local thing. All the Goodwills in about a two hour radius do it.

    2. All Goodwills in Missouri seem to do it, too, and I LOVE IT! I could never catch these flats on sale at Target, so I'll have to go hunt a bit at Goodwill now! Thanks for the heads up ;)

  7. Interesting DIY!

I was just at a local Cleveland Goodwill yesterday and the shoe section was terrible and small :(

  8. They look great!! You can use acrylic paint (it has to be decent and pretty flexible stuff like lukas or liquitex) if you want a longer lasting version of this

  9. The two Goodwill's out here have Target stuff too. Which is weird because the closest Target is in Plattsburg, NY. They have brand new tights and some shoes, clothes & toys. Awesome paint job btw.

  11. Neat- I'd never think to use nail polish on shoes! I haven't seen any Target overstock at my local Goodwill but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

  12. LOVE these shoes and how they look with the nail polish!! The Goodwills in Indiana are the same--I recently found an ADORABLE blue jean, full-skirted jumper dress with front eye-hooks on the bodice, a la Target, at a local Goodwill. Now I need to go search Goodwill for those shoes to go with it!! :)

  13. Such a good idea! The Goodwills in PA get stuff from Target too!

Actually, last time I was Goodwill shopping they had shoes exactly like this, plus some in brown, but do you think I could find ones that would fit my size 9 feet? Sadly no, they only had sizes 5-7 and 10-11.

So seeing these, I'm super jealous.

  16. I've seen a lot of oxford and shoe painting lately but this is by far my favorite. We don't have Goodwill so I'm going to have to get my own inexpensive pair of oxfords, but I would love to rock something like this. I suppose other kinds of paint (fabric paint or shoe paint) might work as well if I use a tiny brush?

  18. I love the colours you chose Kaylah and I can't wait to see the outfit. I've painted some shoes with nail polish before (though not as cute as yours), but I had to put mod podge on mine to stop them cracking in the heat. xx

  22. Such a cute idea! I want to try it out with a solid base, like you did, and then maybe glitter polish or circle dotted polish on top. Thanks for sharing!

  23. I love the painting, it makes such a difference in how they look.

The Goodwill near me in Connecticut also seems to get Target cast-offs. I should try to go this week, I haven't been in a while but I've been meaning to and there's no such thing as too many oxfords.

  24. Those were adorable before, but the little pops of colour are cute too! I'd almost like to try to paint little polka dots over top of the coloured stripes, or maybe try some type of pretty floral pattern!

  25. The Goodwills in VA get Target goodies in as well. I've recently found two pairs of heels there which I was able to go a little craft crazy on. I've just posted them today if you'd like to take a peek, it's a new blog- but I am getting there.

  26. I believe Target donates overstock for a tax writeoff. What's funny is when you see something at Goodwill marked for more than it cost originally at Target (happens all the time here in L.A.).

  27. The Goodwills in NJ are the same! I just got the same exact oxfords there this weekend :)
