Wishing for Spring!

Due to a gnarly ice storm I'm kind of stuck in the house now, just like a lot of other people in the surrounding areas. Luckily we have power because I know the ice knocked a lot of people's power out. Fingers beyond crossed ours doesn't go out too, it's awfully windy!

When ever I'm feeling down about the weather I just look through pictures from spring, summer and fall! They're so inspiring. I can't wait to get back outside, start gardening again (hey, i'm even excited about another indoor window garden), see flowers and any greeness, take walks, wear shorts, and go swimming!

Here are a few of the picture from last year that are helping me through this winter!
This spring/summer/fall I vow to:
• Get outside more often, no more wasting time on the internet on beautiful days!
• Ride my bike, and not feel awkward about just taking a ride around the block. It's my neighborhood too and I should stop feeling weird about it.
• Water my plants daily, seeing flowers on my deck really does make me happy.
• Get dirty more often! I love getting dirty, and feeling the mud between my toes.
• Go camping!
• Plant a super yummy garden!
• Eat the heck out of all my favorite summer foods that I'm missing dearly now, like watermelon and corn on the cob. I didn't eat nearly enough last year.
• Pull weeds and enjoy it! You have no idea how good weeding the garden sounds right now, I'd love to be sitting in the front yard right now making the front garden look beautiful! (Note to self: buy a big floppy sun hat so you can feel fancy while weeding!)
• Take more hikes! Find new places to explore!
• Go swimming more then a handful of times. Not in pools either, just good, cold lakes, streams and ponds!

Writing that list just made me seriously excited! Spring isn't that far away despite how the weather might make it seem today!
xoxo

  1. Sounds like an amazing spring to-do! Most of those are on my list, too. In Florida we're having a temporary "heat wave" where temperatures are 60F-75F. It tricks you into thinking spring is back early! We'll get a cold front to knock us back into reality before you know it!

But the warmth has been making my dream of spring, too. :) And bike rides, the beach, camping, exploring...

  6. Forget spring, I'm already desperately wanting summer and chances to lay out by the pool on weekends! The whole arctic wave thing is getting old!

  7. I hear you about the biking. I don't know why I think people are judging me; I don't judge random people I see doing things outdoors - I don't even think about them (except for the occasional "good for you").

  11. I forget sometimes that you live in Ohio too. I was lucky enough as well to have power, I know a couple of my friends don't. And I agree like crazy I miss all the green, I have a bamboo plant in my room but that is just not enough. I want have more plants! I'm crazing warm weather like some sort of addiction. I'm craving bike rides and walking my dogs and picnics and being out in the sunshine. I hope you have a nice cozy day, and enjoy still having power.

  12. Van, that might even be worse than what we have. I hate when the weather teases!

Elizabeth- same here! I never think twice about people doing outdoor activities!

Miss Lou- so true! I love winter though, I just wish it was a hair shorter!

Little Tree Vintage- I sure did! Thanks! :)

    Jenna- thanks, you too! :)

  13. I like the photos, especially the second from the top -- pink flowers (dogwood tree?). I can't wait for spring either! After the holidays, I am DONE with snow. I grew up in/still live in New England, so you'd think I'd be used to snow by now, but every winter I like it less and less. So, keep warm, drink hot chocolate, bake something delicious, and keep thinking spring...

  15. Love the pictures, they have brightened up my gloomy February day! Good to know I'm nowhere near the only one who thinks everyone outside is watching me - I shall attempt to banish the paranoia!

  16. i miss spring, too and i feel it´s even more frustrating in the city where it´s just grey with hardly any green spots... luckily i have my little inside garden :) the photos are beautiful, i like the one of the dragonfly a lot!

  17. Ha! Don't feel bad about riding your bike around town, if anything you should feel GOOD, since it's better than driving a car. I've been riding my bike for years in the same town, but recently moved to a "bad neighborhood" and riding my unicorn bike through the ghetto, I got some strange looks, but who cares! I brightened up the dark dready alley a bit!

    Happy Groundhog Day!

  21. Thank you! Thank you and THANK YOU!! I live in NYC and boy is it snowy and icy this year. I have serious cabin fever! Your list seriously made me so excited for Spring. AND AND AND I will get a big floppy hat for when I am gardening. Also I will buy myself some nice garden gloves as well.

Let's compare hats when we get them! :)

  27. Eeek! :) This post totally has me wishing it was Spring! No snow here, for us, in Vancouver, and I swore I saw cherry blooms on our trees already the other day. I hope it comes quickly where you are! I'm vying for *tons* of camping this year, too!

  28. You have flying squirrels!?!?! I had two in college named Gwen & Cali. I loved them so much... I've never found anyone else who has had them!

  29. It's been terribly cold here, too, with temperatures in the single digits and negative at night! The wind is icy and awful. I've been walking everywhere instead of biking because of it, even though the sun is out. Your spring to-do is much like mine; the warmer weather is definitely something to which I'm looking forward! I'm going to be taking a week long camping trip in March and I really hope we get some lovely spring weather!

  35. Winter in Ohio just lasts a little too long. I love it but when it's still snowing in April and everything is gray it's hard no to want Spring! On a positive winter note, I just went sledding with some friends in my back yard the other night and it was soo fun!
