I made donuts!!
First you need a donut seed, you can get these at any grocery store.
Hehehe!!
The real recipe....
Baked vegan donuts.
(recipe via veganyumyum)
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 shake of cinnamon
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 shake of cinnamon
1/2 cup soymilk
1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Egg replacer for 1 egg
1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Egg replacer for 1 egg
4 tablespoons Earth Balance or other vegan margarine
Preheat oven to 350º F.
In a large bowl, whisk dry ingredients together.
In a small saucepan, combine wet ingredients over medium low heat & mix until margarine is melted. You should be able to stick your finger in the mixture without burning yourself.

Add wet to dry and stir, forming a soft spongy dough.
Using a spoon, scoop out dough into an ungreased nonstick mini donut pan & smooth out the tops of them. Fill them just below the rim. Overfilling them will result in muffin tops.
Bake them for 10-12 minutes. Remove from pan and place on wire rack to cool.
The glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon soy milk
Whisk ingredients together.
Dip top half of the donut into the glaze, and place on wire rack to harden.

Overview:
Would I ever bake them again?
Would I ever bake them again?
- YES! I cannot wait to try other variations (ie. chocolate covered!)
Pros?
- Quick
- Glaze was so easy to make!
- Deeeeelicious.
Cons?
- Doesn't yield many
- I found spooning the dough into the pans to be difficult and time consuming.
Modifications?
- No nutmeg added.
- Approximately 5 shakes of cinnamon as opposed to one shake.
- Added a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla to glaze.
- I highly reccomend this recipe. They're great for breakfast and for a snack!
- I made one batch with one coating of glaze and a second batch with two coats of glaze. Both were delicious but the ones with one coating were very moist and sticky on day two, but the ones with two coats of glaze weren't.
xoxo!

ReplyDeleteAdorable :)

ReplyDeleteThat is so wonderful! Tee hee!
ReplyDeleteHilarious!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos. As if you weren't talented enough with your sewing skills. ;)
Lol your intro was too cute.
ReplyDeleteso cute, like a fairytale! I love the mini donuts, wish I can bake like that too! :)
ReplyDeleteI have made these before (but in a big donut pan) and they are AMAZING!! I would recommend adding the nutmeg, it gives it that something extra. I'm bummed that it only makes 6-8 of the large donuts, but it's probably for the best or else I'd be eating them all the time! Next time I make them I'm definitely going to add color!
ReplyDeleteDonut machine? :O
ReplyDeletewhen i make mini cupcakes, i know that it helps if i put the batter in a large sized ziplock bag, then snip a little piece of off one of the corners. its easier to just squeeze the batter into the small indents in the pan, rather than spooning it. i think it would also be really good for doing the multi colors too!
ReplyDeleteThey look soo cute! I have to try them. But I also have to find a mini donut pan first.
ReplyDeleteoh goodness kaylah, i was seriously reading this and i was like shut up you can make donuts with fruit loops!!! i HAVE Fruit loops and brown sugar yesss! then i got to the last photo and realized i will not be making fruit loop donuts lol hahahaha seriously my stupid moment of the year. :[ lol but that donut pan is amazingggg it looks like it works SO much better then my donut machine! (i just can't figure it out lol) but im SO trying this recipe they look delcious!

ReplyDeleteI may have just died a little on the inside from excitement. Whenever I get tattooed I tend to have a mad craving for donuts, but have to wait until after. Since they're so small I'll be able to munch AS I'm getting tattooed!!! :)

Hi Liiyah, It's fine if you'd like to post a picture with a link but I'd appreciate if you didn't post the entry in full.
Thank you.
I just made this recipe today! I don't have a mini donut pan, so I used a mini muffin pan instead and they came out looking like cute little cupcakes. They were so tasty I just gobbled down six of them shamelessly.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this recipe!

ReplyDeletehahaha i was so confused at the beginning of this post. I was thinking "a doughnut seed? no way" and because there was a photo of it..i just believed it!! Dear oh dear, I am so gullible!

ReplyDeletethese are so sweet :] i love how colorful they all are. looks like they're right out of a magazine, well done!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are wonderful! I must buy a donut pan immediately!

I know this is an old post, but i thought i'd let you know that they started selling donut pans at Hobby Lobby where I live, I can't wait to make these cupcakes now!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely adorable. if only cupcakes really did grow out of the ground... !
ReplyDeletethis is adorable! what fantastic colors!
ReplyDeleteThe easy way to put the dough in the pan is to put the batter in a freezer/storage bag, close the top, and cut off the corner, and then use it like a piping bag to squeeze it into the donut spaces in the pan. =)
ReplyDeleteI love these!...and you know if the recipe has a small yield you might try 'planting' a little bigger garden! hehe..Love your blog!
